Doctor Pierre Dukan - The Dukan Diet (It's Definitely Worth a Shot!)


Doctor Pierre Dukan- the Dukan Diet has made headlines all over the world. A nutritionist for more than three decades, Dr. Dukan is renowned for his revolutionary diets. The Dukan diet is basically a hyperproteinic diet that depends on excessive intake of protein to help you lose weight. Many of the dieters who have tried the diet claim that they have lost massive amounts of weight that too within periods ranging little more than 5-6 weeks. Hence, it is definitely worth a shot.

Things That Are Required To Be Followed

1. Eat proteins as much as you possibly can

For the first 6 to 10 days you are required to eat nothing but protein. There is a fixed list of foods from which you can choose but you have to be careful so as to not eat anything that is not listed there. The choice of foods are, lean meat (calf, Ox); liver, kidney, tongues of ox and calf, all kinds of fishes raw or cooked, seafood (shells and crustaceans), skinned poultry other than duck, eggs, skimmed milk and other dairy products. You can also have beverages like coffee and tea, vinegar, spice, condiment and pickles, lemon, salt, and mustard, but all these should be in moderation.

2. What next?

Then for the next ten days follow a diet that alternates between protein only and protein with vegetables. Have the protein rich food of phase 1 for the first few days then add vegetables to your diet together with a regular intake of protein for another few. Alternate between the two in this way.

3. How do you rehabilitate yourself to a normal diet?

Finally, allow yourself a time for consolidation which should last for a certain period of time depending on the amount of weight you have lost. If you have lost say 13 kilos then the period of consolidation should last 130 days. Here you are allowed fruits, whole grains and starchy food in limited quantities along with the proteins and vegetables. But keep in mind that majority of the calories your diet should still come from proteins.

Once you have lost the weight you want you can go back to eating normal food. However, you should allocate just one day of the week to a protein only diet. This period of maintenance is important since this will ensure that all the weight you have lost following the Doctor Pierre Dukan- the Dukan Diet stays off.
