The Dukan Diet Review - How Does it Work?

The Dukan Diet is the recent craze that's sweeping Western Europe after being highly popular for years in France. This diet plan, which is also known as the Paris Diet, was created by Dr. Pierre Dukan and falls under the category of a high protein weight loss plan.

Protein is known as a nutrient that can help you feel fuller for a long time, may help to boost metabolism for a short while, and is a building block of muscles. There are a lot of diet plans that advocate a high protein intake but the Dukan Diet seems to do it in a very successful way which is why I decided to write this article about it.

The Dukan Diet has 4 phases you need to go throught in order to make the most with this program:

Attack Phase

This phase last from one day to ten and it the most restrictive on the entire diet as its purpose is to get you to shed some weight very quickly. While on the Attack Phase, you need to eat an all protein diet: steaks, fish, low fat diary, eggs, and so on. This may prove challenging for many people but you need to remember that it's for a limited time period. You are allowed on spoon of oat brans each day but this will hardly satisfy someone who loves carbs.

Cruise Phase

The Cruise phase is easier to do then the first one because you can add an unlimited amount of vegetables to your diet and enjoy greater variety in your meals. Some people love veggies so this does make the diet much more doable. You will still find it hard to be one this phase if you're a carb lover, but this is what the Dukan Diet is all about: protein. You should be on the cruise phase until you reach your target weight

Consolidation Phase

This phase helps you to consolidate your weight loss and prepares you to a resumption of more normal eating, something that you will be able to do for the rest of your life. On this phase, you can add fruit, bread, pasta, potatoes and so on. However, the focus is still on protein. You're also given two free meals each week to eat whatever you want, practically.

Stabilization Phase

On this phase you resume an ordinary way of eating with one exception: you have an all protein day each and every week. Dr. Dukan recommends making Thursday your protein day. Other than that, you have practically complete freedom to do as you please.

Many people report great results with the Dukan Diet. It is up to you to decide whether you feel that this plan is indeed for you. If you're keen on carbs, know that you will have a challenge on your hands. Other than that, it is doable.
